Gratitude

Gratitude is trendy this time of year.

In fact, a lot of people seem to be so grateful right now that they just don't have any gratitude left for the rest of the year. I'm sure you know what I mean.

For me, gratitude truly is something that I do my best to practice all the time, not just around Thanksgiving when it's popular. I believe that being thankful for the things you have sends a big message to the universe. After all, our thoughts have a major effect on the kind of energy we're sending out into the world, and the energy that we send out always finds its way back to us! Being grateful for what you already have helps to attract more good things your way.

Now, if you're like me, you might be thinking that showing gratitude is a good way to show the universe that you're content with what you have. If you have big goals for your life, it might be difficult to show gratitude for what you have, because it's simply not good enough. You're reaching for bigger things, and you're not okay being stuck with what you have now.

Trust me, I'm in the same boat. I am not ashamed to admit that I sometimes have a hard time being grateful because my life doesn't look like what I've pictured. I don't have many of the things I want to have. Sometimes it seems like being grateful sends the message that I'm settling for less than my goals. I used to think that I was being smart by adopting this mindset. I'm keeping my eye on the prize, right?

I was actually very wrong. By thinking like this, I'm actually creating negative energy. By thinking that what I have isn't good enough, I'm focusing my energy on negative things. You know what that does? It brings more negativity my way. "Not good enough," is always going through my mind, and that's exactly what I start to attract.

Instead of focusing on what's wrong with your life, switch your focus to what's good in your life. Sure, it might not be what you want it to be. But it's a start, right?

Here's an example: I have not reached my goal income for this year. I could easily let that get me down. I have let it get me down from time to time, actually. This was my first year in business full-time, and I had very high expectations. However, I'm still grateful for every client I have had the privilege to serve this year. I'm grateful for every Tarot Reading I am hired to perform, and for every time my magical products are purchased and used. I may not have had as many sales as I expected this year, but I am so incredibly grateful for the sales I made. I am grateful for all of the learning experiences I've had this year. I am grateful and proud when I look back at how my business and my practice has grown over the course of this year. I am grateful for every opportunity I have received to inspire magical change in someone else's life!

By focusing my attention on what's going right, I am actually attracting more of it my way.

Try doing it yourself! Think of one thing that didn't work out how you expected. For example, do you struggle with finding extra time? When you do find a moment of free time, try expressing gratitude for that moment. Focus on what's good about it. This lets the universe know that you're open to receiving more of that thing you're focusing on!
